NTUC Foodfare was founded in 1995 with
the mission to stablise cooked food prices in
Singapore. Today, NTUC Foodfare continues to
fulfill this social role by keeping its prices for basic
beverage and cooked food affordable.
During good times, NTUC Foodfare moderates
price increase by setting benchmark
prices. During tough times, it takes on the
responsibility of helping working people tide
over the difficulties by absorbing price hikes
where necessary.
NTUC Foodfare’s social role in safeguarding
the interests of the average Singaporeans
came to fore when it dealt with the rising
cooked food and coffee prices. It has absorbed
all operations increases, provided price subsidy
for these items and maintained prices to help
working people cope better.
NTUC Foodfare operates eight food courts/
coffee shops and two food kiosks. It also
caters food to nine army camps and operates
a factory producing retail packed frozen bakery
items and local delicacies, sauces and pastes.
