More than 500 members of the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers’ Union and 30 residents from the union’s adopted home, Geylang East Home for the Aged celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival on 6 September 2008. Besides feasting on mooncakes and lantern procession, the participants were kept entertained with the noisy and colourful lion dance, Wushu and Chinese dance performances.

Singapore’s Olympic Heroes
NTUC Fairprice Co-operative Limited gave out $60,000 to Singapore’s Olympic heroes who had done the nation proud on the biggest sporting stage. $50,000 was given to the Singapore women’s table tennis team, players and team officials, which clinched a silver medal in the women’s team table tennis event at the recently concluded Beijing Olympic Games 2008.
